Frequently Asked Questions

About Our Services (No Cost to You!)

Is there a fee for your service?

No. Our services are 100% free to you. We're paid a commission directly by the insurance company when you enroll in a plan, which is already built into the plan's cost. You'd pay the exact same premium whether you enroll through us, through another agent, or directly with the insurance company.

We save you time and provide unbiased comparison. As an independent agency representing 14 different insurance companies, we do the legwork for you. We can quickly compare multiple plans from different carriers to find the one that best fits your doctors, prescriptions, and budget—something a single company agent can't do.

Understanding Medicare Supplement & Medicare Advantage Plans

What is Medicare Supplement?

A Medicare Supplement Plan, or Medigap, is private insurance that helps pay for costs Original Medicare (Parts A and B) doesn't cover, such as copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles. These plans standardize their coverage with letter designations (like Plan G or Plan F) and are designed to fill in the financial "gaps" in your Original Medicare coverage.

A Medicare Advantage (MA) plan is an all-in-one alternative to Original Medicare (Part A and Part B). These plans are offered by private insurance companies approved by Medicare. They include your hospital and medical coverage, and most plans also include prescription drug coverage (Part D) and extra benefits.

Most Medicare Advantage plans include additional benefits that Original Medicare does not, such as routine dental, vision, and hearing coverage. Many also include wellness programs, gym memberships, and other benefits like transportation or over-the-counter (OTC) allowances.

To enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan, you must meet two main requirements: You must be enrolled in both Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance) and Part B (Medical Insurance). You must live in the plan's service area.

Enrollment and Eligibility

When is the best time to buy a Medicare Supplement plan?

The best time to buy a Medicare Supplement policy is during your Medigap Open Enrollment Period.

This is a six-month period that starts the first month you are age 65 or older and are enrolled in Medicare Part B.

During this window, insurance companies cannot deny you a policy or charge you more due to any pre-existing health conditions (this is called "guaranteed issue").

If you miss this enrollment period, you may have to undergo medical underwriting to purchase a Medigap plan, and the insurer could potentially deny you coverage or charge you a higher premium based on your health history.

The most common times to enroll or switch plans are:
-Initial Enrollment Period (IEP): When you first become eligible for Medicare (around your 65th birthday).
-Annual Enrollment Period (AEP): Every year from October 15 to December 7, with coverage starting January 1.
-Special Enrollment Period (SEP): Available for certain life events, like moving or losing other coverage. We can check if you qualify for an SEP right now.

No, you don't lose it, but you'll use your new plan instead. You must keep paying your Medicare Part B premium, but the Medicare Advantage plan will deliver your Medicare Part A and Part B benefits. You use your new Advantage plan ID card for your health care services, not your red, white, and blue Medicare card.
